Taking Authority In The Name of Jesus

Did you know that many Christians today don't realize that they have power and authority over circumstances in their lives?

Jesus died on the cross and there is more to the cross than you think. Jesus gave us power and showed us how to use it. You see it throughout the Gospels. Jesus was always teaching his disciples about the word of God and about the law of the old Testament.

Jesus gave us all that we need to achieve in our walk with God. He gave us all the power we need to achieve and be victorious in our lives.

Turn to John 14:12 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. (NKJV)

What kind of power is Jesus talking about here? What greater works is he talking about here? Jesus  is talking about the power of saving souls for God.

It may not be consider great power for us. But remember, our Christian faith is about Him and not about us. our ways are not God's ways.

Look at what God has to say about your ways of doing things; Isaiah 55:8; "My thoughts are completely different from yours," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. v9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." (NLT)

That is why Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit (John 14:26). His job is to teach us about Jesus. He will help us, guide us, teach us, instruct us. But only if we let Him and ask Him for His help. We must be willing to submit to His leading. That can be difficult to some people. The question is, how much of God do we what in your life?

Jesus gave his disciples power and authority to perform miracle to advance the Gospel of Jesus.

Turn to Luke 9:1 - "One day Jesus called together his twelve apostles and gave them power and authority to cast out demons and to heal all diseases." (NLT)

Now that's great power. But, with great power comes great responsibilities. Having this much power can corrupt anyone with pride, if they don't submit to God. Pride always comes before a fall (Proverbs 16:16).

Again, I'll say it; IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU. IT'S ABOUT HIM. It don't matter what you think or feel. It's all about God, not you.

His name is Jesus. The name have so much power, that a time will come when every knees will bow to that name.

Turn to Philippians 2: 9; "Because of this, God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name that is above every other name, v10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, v11 and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (NLT)

The name of JESUS carries tremendous power. It don't matter if you feel the power or not. First of all, his power is not a feeling, it's a fact.

You need faith in Jesus to activate the power that in His name. Turn to Mark 16:17; - "These signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak new languages." (NLT)

Faith in Jesus is what releases the power that is in His name. And when you speak the word of God in the name of Jesus, you release the power of God to work on your behalf. His name carries that much power.

Why does Jesus' name have so much power? Well look at Romans 8:17; "And since we are his children, we will share his treasures – for everything God gives to his Son, Christ, is ours, too. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering."  (NLT)

Jesus took our place on the cross so that we can have what the Father gave to Jesus. This is why Jesus said, "in my name", because there is power and authority in that name. When we say "in the name of Jesus" and have faith in what we say and that what we say is lined up with the word of God, God will bring it to pass.

The name of Jesus carries a lot of weight and we are given power and authority through that name to carry out the word of God to mankind. So start taking authority over sickness and the devil in your life today. Remember that faith without works is dead. (James 2:26)
