Seeking Victory In Your Life

Have you ever wondered why at times some people seemed to attract bad situations in their lives?

Especially when bad things happen to Christians. We don't have to have bad things happening to us. Sometimes when a situation arises, you may feel powerless to do anything. You have lost your job and all the bills are starting to come in. The first thing that comes to your mind is how your going to pay these bills. How are you going to make the car payment or the mortgage payment?

Sometimes it seems that things get worse when times are tough. Your enemy Satan will try to stop the flow of God from manifesting in your life. Why? Because he's a thief. Look at John 10:10; "The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy..." (NLT)

The devil does not want you to have victory in your life. He does not want you to have success or happiness or health or prosperity. He wants to steal everything you have, like your life, your health, your finances. He wants to take it all from you and destroy you completely.

But thank God we are given the power to stop him through Jesus. Look at John 14:6; "Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." (NLT)

Jesus defeated Satan at the cross by taking our place instead. Jesus took upon His body all the sicknesses and diseases imaginable. Then He died and went to hell for us for three days because that's where sinners goes too.

But because Jesus never sinned, hell couldn't legally keep Him. So Jesus was released from hell and was resurrected from the dead. Before He rose, He took the power of death and hell away from Satan. Satan's power was drastically reduced. Now his power is reduced only to his own. Only over sinners does he have full power.

But to Christians that accepted Jesus as the Son of God and as their savior, they became sons and daughters of God. Look at John 8:28; "For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn, with many brothers and sisters." (NLT)

Satan has no power over the child of God. The honest truth is that the only power satan has over the child of God, is the power the child of God gives him through sin and ignorance of the word of God.

The word of God is more then just a religious book with good old bedtime stories that you read to your kids at bedtime. The Bible is in fact a manual on how to live a victorious life on a day to day basis. It is a manual that teaches every child of God who they are in Jesus. It tells them of all their rights and obligations and also about all the benefits they are entitled too if they apply it on a day to day basis.

If you look at the letters of the word B. I. B. L. E., it spells out
Basic instruction before leaving earth.

The word of God is basic instruction manual. However, man has complicated the Bible so much that many people feel they need to go to Bible college or seminary just to get a basic understanding of the Bible. And that discourages people from benefiting from the word of God.

Did you know what Jesus really did at the cross? His death made you a righteous person before God the Father. And because if this, He made you just like Him - perfect. You may not see yourself perfect, but God sees you perfect and without sin. He sees you through the blood of Jesus that saturates you from head to toes.

Because of Jesus' sacrifice, you are made in the image of Christ and everything that the Father gave Jesus He also gives you. That makes you a joint-heir with Jesus. So if Jesus is the King of kings then what does that make you? That makes you a King as well. Look at Romans 8:17; "and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together." (NKJV)

As a child of God you are ordained as an ambassador of the Kingdom of God through Christ Jesus. Jesus was an ambassador sent by God the Father to fulfill the will of the Father. God also chose you and sent you to get trained up in the word of God so that you can do the business of the Kingdom of God, and that is saving souls for Jesus.

When Jesus walked on the earth, he had power and authority over His life. He had full control of His surroundings. The laws of physics did not apply to Him. He had control over the laws of physics. And so do you. Look at Galatians 4:7; "Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. And since you are his child, everything he has belongs to you." (NLT)

You see Jesus, gave you power over circumstances also. Look at Mark 16:17-18; "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  v18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.: " (NKJV)

Jesus gave us the power over our own life. We have the power to change the circumstances in our life.

If you want real victory over circumstances in your life day after day and year after year. Then you'll need to makes some changes in your life and stick to it. And I'm not talking about changes that are temporary. I'm talking about changes that are permanent. It's what we call "paying the price." If you look at Romans 8:17, the end part that says; " if indeed we suffer with Him."  Do you realize what that means? Jesus had paid the price by putting aside His own agenda and did what was the will of His Father.

It cost Him something. It cost Him His life. But the Father richly blessed Him in return.

If you want victory in your life, then it's going to cost you something. For example, you may be watching your favorite T.V. show instead of reading your Bible. You may give up your hockey night to go to the mission to feed the homeless. The point is it will cost you something if you want God to give you victory. Look at Mark 8:34; "Then he called his disciples and the crowds to come over and listen. "If any of you wants to be my follower, " he told them, "you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow me." (NLT)

If you read the same scripture in the New King James Version, you get the following: Mark 8:34 - "When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me" (NKJV)

That is paying the price. That's when Christ comes first and you become second.

Denying yourself means you don't come first, instead you come last. God comes first now and if you put God first in your life, He promises to take care of all your needs and give you victory over every circumstances in your life. I'm not saying that its going to be easy. Because it won't. You will have your moments of doubt. That's why we have the Holy Spirit to teach us how to walk right with God.

God wants you to have victory in all areas of your life. God know that you have needs. He knows you need a job to pay the bills and to put food on the table, God knows these things. But if you put God first in all areas of your life, then He will take care of all your personal needs in your life. Look at Matthew 6:33; "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (KJV)

If you seek first the things concerning the Kingdom of God then all of your needs will be added to you. If you look at the same scripture in the New Living Translation you get: Matthew 6:33; "and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern." (NLT)  If your primary concern is to please God then your on the right path to victory in your life.

First of all you need to put aside your personal feelings like fear and put aside all thoughts and give it to Jesus. One of the most common mistakes that people do when they pray is that they pray the problem to God. God knows your problem. He's asking you what are your going to do about it?

You see, God defeated Satan at the cross. That means Jesus gave you victory in all areas of your life. How do you get the victory? By knowing what the Bible says about your situation. But you may be in a nasty situation that requires assistance immediately. You may say that you don't have the time right now to search the Bible. That's O.K. because right now all you need is a right attitude of heart and the willingness to serve God.

  • 1) Confess any sin that you may have to God, because sin stops the flow of God.

  • 2) Forgive any person that you may have bitterness towards - unforgiveness stops the flow of God.

  • 3) Start giving finances your local church to help advance the gospel. Start giving to God what God lays on your heart. Malachi 3:8-11. It can be 2%, 5% or even 10% of your income. Sow in God's Word and reap the blessing of God's Kingdom.

  • 4) Start praising God. Put on your favorite praise and worship music, lift up your hands and begin to  praise Him. Do this at least 30 minutes a day.

  • 5) Ignore your feelings of fear and hopelessness and just praise God regardless on how you feel. Do it in faith and trust God. Satan will try to stop you from doing this by putting fear in your heart and confusion in your mind.

  • 6) Read your Bible everyday out loud so that you can hear it. You don't need to shout it out. Just loud enough for you to hear it. This is how you get faith. Faith comes by hearing the word of God.

  • 7) Ask God to take care of your situation and trust that He will help you regardless of how it looks. Looks can change. Remember this - never pray the problem. Pray the solution. Jesus is the solution.

  • 8) Start doing what the Bible says to do. Don't just be a hearer ot the word of God. But be also a doer of the word of God. James 1:23; "For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;" (NKJV)

God has shown me these basic principles and they work. I've overcame unsurpassable odds in my life and won the battles. Because Jesus is the solution to my problems and He's the solution to your problem as well.

Jesus is the only way out and He knows every possible avenues of escape. Start trusting Him regardless of what it looks like. Never give up regardless. He promise us in His word that He will never leave us or forsake us. God is no liar. Just trust Him.
